Day 31 & 32: Denver

Denver is our halfway point, essentially. We had a huge arrival in the city planned for the day. We set out for the short 35 mile ride and arrived around 11am at the stadium of the Denver Broncos. We were able to take pictures on the field and once that was said and done we had lunch with the North team and set out for the heart of town where we were welcomed on the Capitol steps by tons of family and friends. The Governor couldn’t be there due to the fires going on across the state but did send someone with some words for us. It was really cool to see all the guys families show up and see their sons. Seeing the support from everyone really made me wish I could have had some family there to cheer for me even though I’m only crew.

After that we racked up and went to the hotel to prepare for the friendship visit that night, Pedals for Pennies. It’s one of the most highly anticipated events of the summer with one of the largest turnouts. We had it at a local park where people with disabilities rode around the park with some of the cyclists. We had a dance party afterwards with them which was really cool. It was nice to see some of the guys I saw at the Charlotte Regional Training. Once all was said and done we were released for the night and some of the guys and I went walking around town.

The next morning we had breakfast with KRG Capitol which was SO delicious. We also got to spend some time learning about their firm and what it is that they actually do. After breakfast we took a picture outside and were free for the rest of the day. Having a per diem lunch and dinner is rare in the Push world so we took it and were ecstatic! I used most of the day to relax and explore downtown Denver. I went to H&M to find a bathing suit and was unsuccessful. When dinner rolled around I went to the Cheesecake Factory with my friend Johnathan. He’s goes to Southern Mississippi (to the top!). I’d never been to CF before and my first trip was amazing. People say its expensive but I didn’t think it was at all. That might be personally because I have no problem spending money on a good dining experience.
